Dwight "Smoked-Ham/Dykey/JD" Hill, versatile artist, musician, producer; compassionate with a colorful personality; carriers the ball of success for life.
Born and raised in Birmingham's East Side public housing in a community plagued by gangs, violence and drug activities. Dwight "Smoked-Ham" Hill persistently found a little spark of faith in himself for his life. Starting as a drawing artist for the The Birmingham News at the age of four -years- old. Sketching became the first love that led Dwight "Smoked-Ham" Hill in the direction toward his next field, music. Persistence is the act of building continuity. An eight grade honor art student at Hewitt-Trussville Jr. High, Dwight "Smoked-Ham" Hill later experimented with recording rap and winning open mic events around Alabama and the Georgia area. He signed a major recording contract in 2007 with "Birmingham American Idol", Ruben Studdard. Like any businessman, success is almost solely based on relationships and a tight bond with a successor. Dwight "Smoked-Ham" Hill, became the most influential artist/producer in Birmingham, Alabama and this has bought him the kind of success most artists can only dream of.
It was no surprise that Dwight "Smoked-Ham" Hill's first solo project, "Maykum-Taykum" (2005), sold over 15,000 copies locally. As with the rest of the reality rappers, notoriety came quickly for him. But while Dwight "Smoked-Ham" Hill sales gave him well-deserved bragging rights, he still hasn't managed to grab the spotlight.
Dwight "Smoked-Ham" Hill an artist, musician and just an all around super talented guy. His mother, Minister Ella Mae Hill, a passionate Christion woman is consistently developing her relationship with God and nurturing her family. His father, the late James Armstrong, was a prominent Smithfield, Alabama Barber, business man and Civil Rights Foot Soldier.
